Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in the US. In the film and television business, she is famous for her awards and nominations. Bassett was raised by her aunt in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Her birthplace was and grew up at home in New York New York. Bassett relocated with her twin sister in St. Petersburg Florida at age five in order so that they could be near their mom, who was separated from their dad. Bassett was at the age of high school when she saw the James Earl Jones staring John Steinbeck play Of Mice and Men and realized that her desire of being an actor had come true. Yale University New Haven Connecticut, where she received her bachelor's degree in African American and master's degrees (1983). At Yale she met Courtney B. Vance a fellow actor and the two were married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. degree in African-American studies, 1980, Master in Fine Arts degree from the Yale School of Drama School: Jordan Park Elementary School Disston Middle School (seventh grade) Azalea Middle School (eighth and ninth grade) Boca Ciega High School.
