Angela Evelyn Bassett is an American actor from the United States. Her name has been praised for her TV and film performance since the 1980s. Her accolades include two Golden Globe Awards, sixteen NAACP Image Awards as well as nominations for Academy Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett is a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She was brought up in Winston-Salem North Carolina by her aunt after being born at New York New York, is well-known as an actor. Bassett along with her sister at the age of five old, moved out of New York and into St. Petersburg to live with their mother, who was the separated father. When she was in high school Bassett watched John Steinbeck's drama Of Mice and Men starring James Earl Jones and decided she would like to be an actor. In 1980, Bassett graduated from Yale University New Haven Connecticut with the degree of African American studies. She was also awarded a degree by the Yale School of Drama. While at Yale she came across Courtney B. Vance a fellow actor and the two got married in 1997. Qualification: B.A. In African-American Studies, the year 1980.
